Grieving the loss of a pet: self-aware care
This week, I needed this guidance more than other days. I held space as my companion of 17 years was released from her pain. I now begin my journey of release.
The magnificent Karma is in peace ... she is now wild and free.
Do you know how it feels to be strong yet still fluid and expanding? Such yogic postures as tadasana (mountain pose) allow us to explore these sensations through embodiment.
This week, I needed this guidance more than other days. I held space as my companion of 17 years was released from her pain. I now begin my journey of release.
How can I be a strong parent for my child whilst my body and mind begin to explore how this grief will impact me?
How will I be able to remain light and flow through the moments with a heavy heart?
I don’t know how, but I know where to begin.
I can write to express my love and honor for having co-existed with such a gentle being for so many years.
I will move so that this heaviness can come and go ... for however long it needs to without getting stuck in my body as stagnant energy.
And I will breathe—deep, full, expanding breaths—to honor her purrs, meows, and teachings and allow myself more space to heal.
You were one and only, sweet Karm. I feel you in my core.

Morning meditation practice
Mindfulness meditation doesn’t require a specific seated position or a prescribed narrative ... watching fleeting moments ... indulging in how obsolete and impermanent they are with a deep gratitude for their unique beauty... and then releasing the moment (with breathe) to carry through on its flow... this is can be your mindfulness practice.
Enjoy the moments,
fill your heart with beauty,
stand grounded in presence ,
breathe in gratitude,
and release that which doesn’t serve you.
Release ... Renew ... Repeat 😊
With gratitude, kindness and ease.
Wrists and ankles workshop
Here’s some takeaways from last week’s workshop…
1. Knowing your Anatomy can deepen your awareness and your practice. Be prepared for doctors visits and planning your wellness by taking some time to look at the area that hurts on an anatomical level for a more informed discussion with providers .
2. Slow and simple movements can lead to long-lasting and life changing shifts!
3. Injury to an area can cause a brain-body disconnect… Using Movement and Massage we can help our parts reconnect, restore, and rehabilitate.
4. Chronic tightness leads to imbalance!
5. When in doubt… Breathe it out...or move about!
A few Movements reminders
“Yippee Toes”
Infinity wrists
Finger assisted forearm stretch
Blog Bonus: sit in a chair , place a towel on the floor. With your toes, grab the towel and scrunch the towel towards the base of the chair. Doing this helps activate the smaller muscles of the foot to help support arch and foot stability !

************************************
Look in the mirror “who do you see?”
I see a woman... I did not choose to be, but
I am oh so grateful that I am me.
I have the power to inspire ,
the strength you admire,
electricity you desire ... my light can guide you or set you on fire !!!
I am not for hire ... you see, I was born to be ME.
Wild and free.
I roar like a river,
And like the sunlit sea...I glow.
Your boulders cannot stop me, so I welcome you to join my flow.
Like the wind I can guide you,
or whirl you around,
I can lift you up,
or swiftly knock you to the ground.
Don’t mistake my gentle touch for someone made of clay,
My roots run deep,
I move mountains in my sleep , cry oceans when I weep.
You see...I was born this way.

Yoga EASE: February full moon practice
During our full moon practice today, we began class by honoring that which has occurred .
One way we do this is by meditating on the messages from the last month cycle, month or year.
Perhaps, delving deeper by asking ourselves how our individuality played a role in creating and/or moving past these circumstances.
In doing so we embrace our authenticity and allow space for our light to shine bright and true.
When I began my work as wellness practitioner I often struggled with the voice inside me that judged my approach and taunted my way of interacting with others. It wasn’t until I challenged myself to lean into the discomfort of going against the grain that I began to recognize that the very thing that made me feel disconnected at times , in fact helped me connect more.
And so, now you get all of me... even the painfully cheesy parts that says things during Adho mukha śvānāsana like “If you gotta bend a knee... that’s alright with me !”
With gentleness, love and gratitude
Yoga EASE: Sacred Practice
Today we honored the need to create sacred space.
We recognized that we can do this by simply unrolling our mat and beginning a mindful practice. This can mean simply sitting in silence and focusing on breathe with intention to refill our well, refresh our awareness and check in with our internal experience.
Movement and Asana -
utthita trikonasana
Strap “vest” for posture awareness
Tennis ball acupressure
Wave inspired Breathing
Sleeping in the Forest
By: Mary Oliver
I thought the earth remembered me,
she took me back so tenderly,
arranging her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds.
I slept as never before, a stone on the river bed,
nothing between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated light as moths
among the branches of the perfect trees.
All night I heard the small kingdoms
breathing around me, the insects,
and the birds who do their work in the darkness.
All night I rose and fell, as if in water,
grappling with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.
Spring weather in February feels oh so good and can open up the creative energies ... but to many of us it just leaves us unbalanced.
EASE Mantra: Look to the trees for grounding and to the skies for expansion ... (and you may just find some inspiration!)
